Prototype

Purpose of Prototype:

We will be using a google form to create a questionnaire for the prototype to help with the career development meeting process. The purpose of this prototype is to gain footing and reference for the final system that will be used to assess the clients needs and requirements for meeting with someone in the career development office. This will help us improve their process of meeting with students by obtaining a better understanding of what the specific client needs are, and the best way we can help the client. Our goal is to identify the specific skills that the clients desire to improve on and help them get the advising they need to be successful in the business world. By having students who require assistance in career development answer the questionnaire, we can help direct them to one-on-one career advisement or workshops by asking various types of questions. These questions generalized while still being “to the point” so as to help career development identify the specific skills that the client is lacking and hoping to improve upon. For example, we first ask what skills the client needs help with, depending on what skills need work we either refer them to workshops or to one-on-one meetings, depending on the level of importance they specify. In the end, we are hoping that the survey will help the career development office have a more organized and specified process for adapting to the specific needs of everyone seeking help from them.

How to use it:
For now our prototype is on our team website, but if it were to actually be implemented we would make it accessible on the page for career development on my.chatham. The prototype can easily be used by the participant simply answering the questions we have listed in the questionairre and submitting it. From there, their answers will be reviewed by someone in career development and they will have the power to sort the participants into having one-on-one meetings with someone in the office of career development, or refer the to a workshop that would still fulfill their needs.
